On August 22, 1944, Elder Willie Jasper Moye Sr. was born to Jasper Lee and the late Ida Bell Moye in Greene County, North Carolina. Elder Moye is the third oldest of their eleven children. Elder Moye was educated in the Pitt County Public School system. While raised in the North Carolina, Elder Moye grew to know hard work, love of family and love of God.

Robinson Union High is where he met, in his eyes, the most beautiful girl in the world; the love of his life, Lillian Ruth Harris Moye. They would soon marry on August 16, 1963 and relocate to Stamford, CT. To this union, eight beautiful children were born; Jennifer, Willie Jr., Stephanie, Sharon, Kimberly, Stephen, Chavon and Esther (deceased). His family was extended with fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Elder Moye is a family man and a hard worker; supporting his family was always his priority. Many of his places of employment included over 18 years of service at Bunker Ramo, Stamford; over 4 years of service at Avco, Bridgeport; over 14 years of service with the Town of Stratford, until his retirement in 2009; and presently at Greater Bridgeport Transit Authority for more than 17 years.

Elder Moye accepted the Lord as his personal Savior in 1971 under the leadership of the late Pastor William R. McCloud, Bibleway COGIC, Stamford, CT. Under the tutelage of the late Elder McCloud, Elder Moye embraced the word of God, learned more of His word, and grew in the Lord. In 1982, he accepted the call to the ministry and received his Elder’s license. In 1984 he attended Manhattan Bible Institute and became a certified Evangelist. Elder Moye served faithfully at Bibleway COGIC, from 1971-1985.

In 1985, the Lord led Elder Moye and his family to join Holy Tabernacle COGIC. Under the leadership and guidance of his Pastor, the late Bishop Ivory W. Holden, he has faithfully served the people of God at Holy Tabernacle COGIC for twenty-seven years. In view of his faithfulness, the late Bishop Holden appointed him Assistant Pastor of Holy Tabernacle in 2003. Upon the passing of the late Bishop Holden in 2011; Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake and the General Board of Bishops, appointed Elder Moye as the Interim Pastor of Holy Tabernacle COGIC in May 2011. On January 15, 2012; Bishop Loran E. Mann, Prelate of the Vermont Jurisdiction, appointed Elder Moye as the Pastor of Holy Tabernacle COGIC.

While faithfully serving for more than forty years in the grand ole Church of God in Christ, Elder Moye has held many positions. Many of his positions included serving as the treasurer at Holy Tabernacle for 23 years and currently serving; for 17 years, as the Chairman of Finance for the Jurisdiction of Vermont.

From the pulpit to the community Elder Moye takes his ministry seriously and is always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. Elder Moye has truly exemplified the true meaning of Christianity; at home, at work, and through teaching and preaching the gospel. Truly Elder Moye’s life speaks for him; a life that is well pleasing unto God.
